How to Make Origami Hearts

Method 1: Easy & Cute Origami Hearts for Beginners

Step 1: Base Folding

Prepare a piece of square sheet. Fold the paper in half diagonally on any one side and then unfold it. Bring any one of the corners (of either side of the diagonal crease) to the middle point of the diagonal crease. Now, fold the opposite corner and join it with the middle point of the opposite edge.

Method 1: Easy & Cute Origami Hearts for Beginners: Step 1: Base Folding

Step 2: Heart Base Shape

Fold the current pattern in half and then unfold it again. Fold the bottom (wider side) half-right side of the current pattern and align it with the middle crease. Similarly, fold the left side. Turn the heart base to the other side.

Step 2: Heart Base Shape

Step 3: Base Folding

Fold 1 cm of the top corner of the base heart’s right part. Similarly, fold the left part. Fold in 1 cm of both sides and then unfold the sides.

Step 3: Base Folding

Step 4: Base Folding

Slightly open the side and tuck the corner inside, along the crease lines. Similarly, open and tuck in the corner of the other side. Turn the heart pattern to the other side and it’s done!

Step 4: Base Folding

Method 2: Origami Heart with a Pocket!

Step 1: Base Folding

Prepare a piece of square sheet. Fold the paper into half diagonally on both sides and then flip the paper. Make vertical and horizontal half-folds and then unfold. Flip the paper and push in the horizontal and vertical folds and draw the center upwards. Flatten the pattern. There should be 1 flap on each side of the flattened pattern; hold the corner.

Step 1: Base Folding

Step 2: Tuck in Pockets

Join the open corner of a flap with the corner on the opposite side of the pattern. Unfold and tuck the open half part of the flap inwards. Turn the current pattern to the other side and tuck in the flap as well. Rotate the pattern and bring the 2 divided parts to the top. Fold the open corners of the 2 parts and join them with the corners on their open sides.

Step 2: Tuck in Pockets

Step 3: Form the Top Right Part

Unfold the last 2 folds and slightly open them. Tuck the folded parts inwards; keeping the folds along the crease lines created in the previous step.

Step 4: Form the Rest of the Origami Heart

Prepare a piece of square sheet. Fold the paper in half diagonally on both sides. Flip the paper and make vertical and horizontal half-folds. Flip the paper and push in the horizontal and vertical folds and draw the center upwards.

Step 4: Form the Rest of the Origami Heart

Step 5: Base Folding

Similarly, fold the other side. Fold the top corners by 1 cm inwards. Fold the side corners by a cm inwards as well. Turn the heart pattern and it is ready. You can write down a small note and insert it into the pocket of the origami heart.

Step 5: Base Folding

Method 3: Heart Origami with a Note!

Step 1: Base Creases

Prepare a piece of the sheet into 20cm x 5cm. Fold the paper into half lengthwise and then unfold. Fold both sides inside, aligning along the middle crease. Unfold the side folds as well. These will leave crease lines and divide the paper into 4 squares.

Step 1: Base Creases

Step 2: Base Folding

Fold the 2nd square from the right into half by aligning its outer crease with the middle crease. Unfold and then fold the outer rectangle in half. Similarly, fold the left side of the paper.

Step 2: Base Folding

Step 3: Forming the Middle

Turn the current pattern to the other side and fold in the 4 corners of the top-lifted-up square. Unfold any 2 corners along the outer edge and fold those inwards.

Step 3: Forming the Middle

Step 4: Forming the Middle

Hold the middle part of the folded-in corners and fold it out. Flatten that part with the base pattern. Similarly, fold the other side of the pattern and then turn the pattern to the other side.

Step 4: Forming the Middle

Step 5: Forming the Sides

Fold the right square into half, vertically. And then, fold the left square into half as well. Turn the pattern to the other side. Fold the bottom right corner and join it along the adjacent side, diagonally.

Step 5: Forming the Sides

Step 6: Forming the Sides

Fold the top left corner of the same side. Then, fold the right (outer) corner to complete the right side of the origami note heart. Fold in the top corner slightly. Similarly, fold the left side of the pattern.

Step 6: Forming the Sides

Step 7: Completing the Heart Craft

Fold the inner edge of the right side along the middle crease. And then do the same for the left side. This will join the inner edges of both sides together. You can write down a note along the middle part and then close the heart by joining the inner edges.
