Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the Patterns
Select felt fabrics for the dinosaur plush and trace the template patterns on them. Cut out the traced patterns using scissors. The patterns include 2 body base patterns, 3 circles (spots) for the body, 2 circles (1 big and 1 small) for the eyes, and 1 scale pattern (the zigzag bordered pattern).
Step 2: Assembling the Eye Patterns
Place the black felt circle (small) on the white felt circle (big) and then place them on the head part of any one of the dinosaur body base cutouts.
Step 3: Stitch the Eye and Mouth
Prepare needle with white thread and stitch a small white dot pattern on the black part of the eye but making sure to stitch all 3 patterns (body, and 2 eye circles) together. Prepare the needle with black thread again and stitch the black part with the rest of the pattern. You won’t need to stitch the white circle of the eye as it is already attached to the dinosaur head part.
Step 4: Placing the Scale Pattern
Take the plain body base cutout of the dinosaur pattern and place the zigzag bordered cutout (the scale pattern) along the top side of the body cutout, by keeping the zigzag side facing outside. Make sure to overlap both pieces by half a cm.
Step 5: Stitching the Scale Pattern
Now place the eye-stitched body base cutout on the top of the plain one. Prepare the needle with matching thread and start to stitch around the side to attach the 2 body cutouts together. Do a running stitch along the top side, with the scale pattern between the body base cutouts.
Step 6: Stuff the Dinosaur Pattern
For the rest of the stitching, I did flat blanket stitches. Remember to keep a small opening before closing the stitch. You can use cotton or scrap felts for stuffing. Keep stitching and stuffing until the whole felt dinosaur is stuffed.
Step 7: Stitch to Close the Open End
Done stuffing? Close the open end with flat blanket stitches. Tie a knot, draw the needle inside the plush, and then drawing it back out. Cut off extra thread. And done!
