Puffy Origami Style 3d Heart Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Base Paper
Select a colored craft paper and prepare it into a 20 cm x 6 cm sheet. You can use a bigger or smaller sheet as well, but make sure to keep the ratio 20:6. Use a ruler and pencil to make sure that the size is correct.
Step 2: First Base Folding
Let’s work on our first fold. Simply fold the paper diagonally from any one corner. Make sure to align the top (6 cm side) side with the adjacent longer side (20 cm side) neatly. This will form a triangle part at the end of the paper.
Step 3: Second Base Folding
Now, notice the straight line along the inner bottom side of the triangle, fold the triangle part along that edge. This is the second fold.
Step 4: Third Base Folding
For the third fold, make the fold along the inner, diagonal side of the triangle.
Step 5: Fourth Base Folding
For the fourth fold, fold the triangle part along the bottom, straight side again, as we did in step 3.
Step 6: 5th and Last Base Folding
This is our 5th and last base fold. Fold the triangle part along the inner, diagonal side. After the last fold, there should be a little paper left. Fold the corners inside, of the remaining side.
Step 7: Secure Open End
The base folds have created several pockets; now, insert the remaining small part of the paper inside the top pocket.
Step 8: Close Open Ends
After inserting the open end inside the top pocket, apply glue to secure that end completely. There should be another open end on the other side of the paper, secure that side with glue as well. Allow the glue to dry completely before heading towards the next step.
Step 9: Cut Round Edges
Use a pair of scissors to cut round-edges on the 2 45 degree corners.
Step 10: Gently Press the Paper Pattern
Take the current paper pattern and gently press the bottom corner and its opposite side. If necessary, you can insert your finger through the created in the previous step.
Step 11: Fold in the Top Middle Point
Gently create pressure right in the middle point of the top side and this should automatically form a puffy heart shape.
Step 12: Repeat Process to Make More 3d Hearts
If the 3d heart doesn’t turn out perfectly in your first attempt, do not worry. Every craft requires a little practice. Make a few more and you’ll see how your skills improve with each 3d heart craft.
