Each day adds one new layer to the scene. You will start with a simple felt garland, then add ghosts, bats, spiders, and paper pumpkins until the whole wall feels ready for Halloween.
The final display works above a mantel, on a living room wall, in a classroom, above a craft table, or as a Halloween party backdrop.

How to Follow This Series
Each day, you will make one type of craft and complete the full quantity needed for the final display.
You do not need to decorate right away. After each craft is finished, tuck it somewhere safe, like a box, tray, or folder.
On Halloween day, bring out all the finished crafts and decorate your wall, mantel, shelf, or classroom board in one go. Hang the garland first, add the ghosts, bats, and spiders, then finish the display with the pumpkins.

Make the Halloween Garland
Make the felt garland first so it is ready to hang on assembly day. String it with ghosts, pumpkins, witch hats, and cats along a natural cord for the top of your wall.
Make the Origami Bats
Fold 8 to 12 origami bats from black or dark square paper. Vary the wing angle on each one so the flock looks like it is mid-flight when scattered across the upper and middle wall on assembly day.
Make the Origami Ghosts
Fold 5 to 8 white origami ghosts and draw a face on each one. These will float across the centre of the wall between the bats above and the spiders below.
Make the Origami Spiders
Fold 4 to 6 origami spiders from black or purple paper and add googly eyes. These will crawl across the lower wall and mantel edge on assembly day.
Make the Small 3D Paper Pumpkins
Make 3 to 4 smaller pumpkins to fill the gaps around the large ones on the mantel. Mix orange and gold tones to add warmth and variety to the mantel arrangement.
Make the Large 3D Paper Pumpkins
Make 2 to 3 large accordion-fold pumpkins in orange cardstock. These are the main sculptural statement pieces that anchor the centre of the mantel display.
Day 7: Style the Final Halloween Display
Today is the day to bring all the crafts together. Take out everything you made during the countdown and lay the pieces on a table before you start decorating.
Begin with the garland. Hang it across the top of your wall, mantel, shelf, or classroom board. Let it curve slightly so it feels soft and natural.
Next, place the ghosts under the garland at different heights. Add the bats around them in a loose flying shape, then place the spiders near the left and right edges of the display.
Finish by arranging the paper pumpkins along the mantel, shelf, or table below the wall crafts. Step back a few times while decorating and leave enough gaps between the pieces. The final display should look cute, clear, and easy to see from a few steps away.
