Video Tutorial with Step Breakdown
Watch the video from start to finish first, then follow the steps one by one. This will make creating your Mother’s Day craft much easier—even if you’re an absolute beginner.
Step 1: Preparing the Template

Download and print the provided template. Select brown cardstock paper for the crate pattern and white cardstock paper for the card. Select colored craft papers of your choice for the flower, stem, and leaf patterns. Use a pencil to trace the patterns on the selected papers. Use scissors to cut out the traced papers neatly.
Step 2: Making the Crate Base

Take the crate base cutout and make folds along the left and right sides. Keep the folds inwards and apply glue along their top surface. Fold the crate base in half, and it will create a pocket pattern. Allow the glue to dry.
Step 3: Adding Texture to the Crate

Attach the strip cutouts vertically along the front side of the crate pocket pattern. Attach the 3 thin, rectangular cutouts on the crate horizontally.
Step 4: Making the Flowers

Take 3 tulips, 2 leaves, and a stem cutout. Fold the tulip and the leaf cutouts in half, vertically. Attach the leaf patterns on the stem cutouts, with their pointy edge facing upwards.
Step 5: Attaching the Flower to the Stem

Take 3 half-folded tulip patterns and the leaf-attached stem pattern. Attach any 2 half-folded tulip patterns to the stem, side by side, with their closed end along the middle. Attach the 3rd half-folded tulip pattern between the 2 attached tulip patterns.
Step 6: Attaching the Flowers to the Card

Similarly, prepare 3 more tulips on the stem and take the flower base cutout. Attach the tulips to the base cutout on a row.
Step 7: Checking the Card and Crate Sizes

Attach the card cutout along the bottom part of the flower base, covering the bottom of the stems. Insert the card through the crate to its size. Write down your message and gift it to your Mom!
Crafting Tips & Fixes for the 3D Tulip Mother’s Day Card
Running into a little trouble while making your 3D tulip card? Don’t worry! Here are some quick tips to help you craft a beautiful card without the stress:
1. The crate pocket isn’t forming correctly?
👉 Tip: Be sure you’re folding along the correct lines before gluing.
Glue only the side flaps—leave the top completely open to create the pocket for the card insert.
2. Flowers look flat or squished?
👉 Tip: Gently fold each tulip and leaf piece exactly in half before gluing.
Sharp, even folds help the flowers pop up neatly and create that full 3D effect.
3. Crate and card don’t fit together properly?
👉 Tip: Double-check that you printed the template at 100% (actual size) and used A4 paper.
If your printer scaled the template, the pieces might not match up—reprint if needed.
4. Stems or tulips won’t stay in place?
👉 Tip: Arrange all the tulips and stems first, then glue them down.
Planning your layout before gluing helps everything stay neat and balanced.
5. Paper wrinkles after gluing?
👉 Tip: Use a thin layer of glue and spread it lightly with a brush or your fingertip.
Too much liquid glue can soak the paper—especially with regular craft paper.
