Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Magic Ring and Base Stitches

Select a yarn of your choice and start by making a magic ring and chain 5 on the hook. Work 3 DC into the magic ring then work 2 chains.
Step 2: Completing Round 1

Repeat this pattern, (3 DC, 2 CH), 3 more times. But when you work 3rd time, here work 2 DC instead of 3 DC (because you already worked Ch 5, and the CH 3 of 5 counts as 1 DC). Insert your hook into the very first 3rd chain and make slip stitch.
Step 3: Starting Round 2

Slip stitch into the corner again, and it would look like a mini square. Work CH 3 here, this CH counts as 1 DC.
Step 4: Working on Round 2

Work 1 DC and CH 2, then 2 DC into the magic ring again, that’s how we make a corner. Work 3 DC into the next 3 space.
Step 5: Completing Round 2

For making a corner again work 2 DC, 2 CH, and 2 DC into the magic ring. Now repeat the pattern around 2 more times, work 3 DC into the next 3 spaces, then 2 DC, 2 CH, and 2 DC again into the magic ring.
Step 6: Statring Round 3

After completing this round, make a slip stitch into the 3rd CH. Start the next round with 3 chains.
Step 7: Completing Round 3

Repeat the pattern you already worked before. Then, make 4 slip stitches into the next 4 spaces.
Step 8: Starting the Right Top Part

CH 1. Now yarn over 3 times in your hook then insert your hook into the middle of the row, again yarn over and pull through. Look at 5 loops on your hook.
Step 9: Working Double-Treble Stitches

In this step, yarn over and pull through 4 times then work CH 1. Repeat this pattern 8 more times to make a heart shape. lastly, work CH 1.
Step 10: Completing the Top Parts

Make a slip stitch into the corner space. In this step, make another part of the heart shape how you made it before then make a slip stitch into the corner.
Step 11: Starting the Border

CH 3. Work 1 DC into the next every single space until you reach the corner.
Step 12: Working on the Border

Now, work 2 DC, 2 CH, and 2 DC for making the corner. Work 1 DC into the next every single space again and follow the picture where to stop.
Step 13: Working Border Along the Top Right

Work 2 DC into the chain 1 space and 1 DC into the top of the DTR space and repeat this pattern 6 more times.
Step 14: Working Border Along the Top Right

1 HDC at the top of the DTR space. 2 HDC into the next chain 1 space.
Step 15: Completing the Top Right Part

1 SC into the top of the DTR space. 2 SC into the next CH 1 space.
Step 16: Working on the Middle Part

Skip the last top of the DTR space. and then, Into the next CH 1 space make a slip stitch. Make a slip stitch again into the corner below.
Step 17: Starting the Top Left Part

Now, make another part of it, as you did before. Here make a slip-stitch into the 3rd chain.
Step 18: Adding a Border

Cut the pink yarn and then add the new yarn. Work 1 SC every single space until you reach the corner and then Into the corner work 2 SC, 2 CH, 2 SC.
Step 19: Finishing the Crochet Heart Pattern

Repeat SC around, make a slip stitch where you started, then cut the yarn with a long tail. Finally, sew it.
Tips for Beginners: Things to Remember When Crocheting Heart Coaster
- If you’re new to crochet, start with the basics—chain stitch and slip knot. Once you’ve got those down, the rest will be much easier.
- Use a medium-weight yarn with the recommended hook size. Lighter colors help you see your stitches better, making learning smoother.
- Take it slow and break the pattern into small steps. Master one stitch before moving on to the next, and don’t stress about getting everything perfect on the first try.
- Keep your tension even. Too tight, and your stitches will be hard to work with. Too loose, and they’ll look messy. Find a comfortable balance.
- Stitch markers can be a lifesaver, especially when shaping the heart. Place them at key points to keep track of where you are.
- If you’re unsure, do a test run with scrap yarn first. It takes the pressure off and lets you practice before making your final piece.
- And most importantly, enjoy the process! Your first coaster doesn’t have to be perfect—what matters is that it’s made with love.
