Step by Step Instructions for Mother’s Day Fox Card
Step 1: Preparing the Patterns

Choose your favorite colored craft papers and cardstock. Use cardstock for the card base and colored craft papers for the foxes and other decorations.
Print and cut out the template – it includes the mother fox, child fox, two layers of grass, hearts, and a square card base. Trace each part onto your chosen papers and cut them out carefully.
Step 2: Assemble the Mother Fox’s Pattern

Take the mother fox’s head and attach the inner ears to the ear parts. Attach the lower face cutout onto the bottom part of the head. Glue the completed mother fox’s head to the top part of the mother fox’s body.
Step 3: Craft and Attach the Tail

Glue the tail tip onto the end of the tail base. Add glue only to the inside end of the tail (the side that will attach to the body). Now, attach the glued end to the back of the mother fox’s body, allowing the front of the tail to remain visible from the front.
Step 4: Draw the Mother Fox’s Face

Use a black marker or fine-tip sharpie to draw the face details—eyes, nose, and mouth.
Step 5: Craft the Child Fox

Glue the lower face cutout onto the child fox’s head and attach the head to the child fox’s body. Draw on the face with a black marker and add blush to the cheeks using a pink marker or highlighter.
Step 6: Layer the Foxes Together

Tuck the child fox between the body and tail layers of the mother fox so they look cuddled together.
Step 7: Prepare the Card Base

Take your card base and the 2 grass layers. Apply glue only to the straight bottom edge of the first grass cutout and attach it to the bottom of the card. Keep the top edge unglued so you can tuck in the foxes.
Step 8: Attach the Second Layer of Grass

Do the same with the second layer of grass to create a dimensional look.
Step 9: Add the Foxes, Hearts, and Final Touches

Slide the mother and child fox duo into the grass layers so they peek out adorably.
Cut out some tiny hearts from pink and red craft paper and glue them around the foxes to make the card extra sweet and festive!
Crafting Tips & Fixes for the Mother & Baby Fox Card
Need a little help making your fox family card come together just right? Here are some quick fixes for common hiccups and tips to make your card extra cute and clean!
1. Fox pieces not lining up properly?
👉 Tip: Always trace the pieces neatly and cut just outside the template lines.
This gives you a bit of extra room so the layered parts (like the ears and face) don’t look too small when glued.
2. Tail looks awkward or hidden?
👉 Tip: Only glue the base of the tail, not the entire piece.
This allows the fluffy tip to pop out and stay visible from the front, giving it a more natural look.
3. Face details look uneven?
👉 Tip: Lightly sketch the face with pencil before using markers.
This helps with symmetry and reduces the chance of making mistakes you can’t undo.
4. Foxes don’t fit snugly behind the grass?
👉 Tip: Keep the top edges of the grass unglued!
Only glue the bottom straight edge so you can slide the foxes in between the grass layers and adjust their placement easily.
5. Grass layers feel too flat?
👉 Tip: Curl the top edges of the grass slightly with a pencil.
This adds a bit of dimension and makes the layering look more natural and 3D.
6. Hearts are uneven or too big?
👉 Tip: Fold a small scrap paper in half and cut a heart from the folded edge.
This trick makes perfectly symmetrical hearts every time—plus they look handmade and charming.
7. Cardstock curling after gluing?
👉 Tip: Use glue sparingly and apply it in thin, even layers.
Too much glue can warp the paper—especially with thinner cardstock. A glue stick or a small paintbrush can help with precise application.
