Learn How to Make Twine Coasters
Cutting the Base
For the base, you can use felt, craft foam sheet or any thick fabric. But I guess craft foam sheet would be the perfect pick for these coasters. Determine a size for the coaster and cut a round piece from craft foam sheet according to the determined size.
Starting the Twine Coiling
Apply glue on the centre of the base. Grab the twine from its open end and create a tight coil with it. Place the coiled twine on the centre of the foam base. Press the coiled twine against the glued part firmly to make sure that it is glued to the base.
Preparing the Small Twine Coils
Keep circling the twine around the centre coiled part until there is 2 cm left around the outer side of the base. Now cut out some small pieces of twine, all pieces should be of the same length. Use the small twine cutouts to create coiled patterns. Use hot-glue to secure the coiled twine pieces.
Crafting the Border
Attach the small twine coils around the outer (2 cm intact part around the base) side of the base.
Keep adding the twine coils until the border is filled.
