DIY Wire Picture Holder or Note Holder

I never had to use sticky notes or noteholders but I often put my photos and pictures on wire holders. Plus, life is getting busy and busy every day; now I feel the importance of writing down notes every now and then just to make sure that I don’t miss out on anything important.

I’m very pleased with how these concrete note holders turned out and they have been super useful. I’m using one of these as photo holders and it’s displaying my son’s photo. My husband has one at his office desk displaying his visiting card and I also gave another one to a friend, she’s also using it to display visiting cards and important notes.

I’ll be making a few more wire picture holders for my workspace and some for others.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the height you want for the concrete part of the wire picture holder. I kept mine at 1.5 cm. Take an empty tissue paper roll and mark the determined height on it. Use an x-acto knife to cut it the tissue paper roll along the marked area.

Step 2

Cut a piece of cardstock paper with length and width larger than the diameter of the toilet paper roll. Place the cutout toilet paper roll piece on the cardstock cutout. Prepare the hot glue gun and use it to attach both pieces (the cardstock paper and the tissue paper roll cutout) together.

Make sure to seal the toilet paper roll cut out all around its sides, with the cardstock. Our primary container is ready.

Step 3

Now take the craft wire but do not cut it from the bundle. Bend the wire 4 times in the same direction to create a square pattern; the size of the square should be smaller than the diameter of the tissue paper roll. Bend the current wire (last bent part) diagonally inside the square pattern.

Step 4

Keep the square pattern intact and bend the remaining wire to 90 degrees towards the opposite direction of the square pattern.

Step 5

Decide the length of the note stand. Keeping the decided length and about 8 cm or 10 cm extra wire; cut off the wire from the bundle. Create a twirl pattern using the 8 cm extra wire from the open end.

Step 6

In a plastic bucket or pot add the cement and sand mixture. The proportion of cement and sand should be 50:50. Add water to the cement and sand mixture. The water-cement ratio should also be about 50:50 but in case you cannot measure the ratio add a small amount of water at a time and mix. Do not add too much water at once and try keeping the mixture thick. Less water means more strength and less time to dry. Mix them really well using a stick.

Step 7

Done mixing the cement? Fill the primary container with the cement mixture. Take the wire stand prepared in step 5 and place the square part inside the cement of the primary container. Gently push the wire stand inside the cement mixture until it reaches the bottom.

Step 8

Allow the cement to dry overnight. After 24 hours check if the cement is dry? If it’s dry, then carefully take off the cardstock and tissue paper roll container. First, rip off the toilet paper roll piece and then the bottom cardstock.
